Whether yours is a dream project that started life as a sketch, an idea inspired by an image seen online or simply an essential restoration, The Vale Workshop approach remains the same. Closely collaborating with clients, we can use our expertise to achieve the results they desire within their budget. During an initial consultation we will assess your project and explore options on materials, finish and hardware before compiling a quotation.

The first step in creating your joinery is selecting the materials. Through our trusted suppliers we source FSC-certified timber, which we then assess for its suitability and character for your project. During this critical stage we draw on our extensive timber knowledge to establish which pieces are right for the product being manufactured. Of course, timber is a natural product with its own quirks and sensibilities that will continue to be a feature throughout its working life.

Considered craftsmanship that blends time-honoured techniques with modern technology best describes The Vale Workshop’s ethos when manufacturing our fine joinery. Your item may incorporate traditional wedged mortice and tenons, or even a few loose-tongued or butt-beaded boards. Thanks to our cutting-edge equipment we can manufacture the key components with high accuracy, ensuring our products function just as they should once in service.

The next crucial stage for your joinery is readying it for finishing. Attention to detail is key, as properly preparing the items for painting, oiling or staining is essential for the appearance of the final product. We can advise what style of finish and product would be best for your joinery, both in terms of aesthetics and longevity. Using the Teknos system of paints we can apply a huge range of finishes that will look fantastic and provide protection from the elements.

For colours, we use a range of paint manufacturers to suit your individual project including Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, MyLands or Dulux.

Once the finish has been applied and finessed it is time for the assembly and fitting of the hardware. Whether it is a traditional or contemporary look that you desire, we can advise which ironmongery and accessories will do your joinery justice. Our most popular options are ironmongery in the Anvil and Kirkpatrick ranges.
